How To Help

how to help

It takes a village to save and rescue pugs. We could not do this if we did not have great people that work behind the scenes, donating their time and money, and those who foster (which means donating time, love, and money). We cannot thank our volunteers enough; they are truly the best people.

So often, when we finally place a pug in a home, we walk away feeling like the pug was where they were meant to be. We just helped them on their journey.

We would not exist if it wasn’t for the people that donate to our occasional auctions, come to our events, or just donate to our rescue because they want to help. They allow us to make a difference and keep the vets paid.

Here’s how you can help:

Donate

Some dogs that come to us are in great shape and just need a quick visit or to start on a healthy, new dog food. But many come to us in need of significant vet care, and often surgery. We are always in need of funds to help us care for these dogs and take new dogs in. We accept donations via Paypal on an ongoing basis and will occasionally create special fundraisers to generate funds for special needs. Your donation is greatly appreciated and allows us to continue to provide loving homes to sweet pups.

Foster

Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience, providing a special home to a pug who is on its journey to meet its forever family. When you foster, not only do you enjoy the wonderful company of a rescue companion pet, you are saving a life. We frequently rescue pugs from kill shelters and puppy mills who get a new lease on life in their foster homes.

Fostering forms the backbone of the work we do – we cannot exist as a rescue if people are not willing to bring needy animals into their homes while we search for forever homes for them. Not only does fostering provide a healthier atmosphere for the pug, it helps us get to know the animal too. This information becomes key to finding just the right home for their personality. We try to make fostering a happy experience for both the foster family and the foster pug by matching the pug with a foster home that can meet its needs.

If you are interested in becoming a foster for a pug in need, please fill out the adoption application and note that you would like to foster.

Volunteer

Whether it’s helping transport dogs, provide administrative support, or conduct home visits, we couldn’t exist without a team of caring volunteers. If you’d like to donate your time or resources to support Midwest Pug Rescue, contact us today.
